Join MVTC staff and a dedicated group of volunteers to maintain trails in the Twisp River Drainage. This work week will focus on the first few miles of several trails leading into the Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness. Our main focus will be to support chainsawyers (staff and certified volunteers) to clear logs to the Wilderness boundaries before Washington Trails Association volunteer vacations push further up the trail in June. If you’re more interested in a longer, quieter hike, you may be able to plug in with an experienced crosscut sawyer to clear logs into the Wilderness, or we can always use help clearing brush. There will be work for all ability levels and skill types! Hikes are expected to be no greater than 6 miles round trip.
Each day, we will meet a group of volunteers camped at the Poplar Flats Campground at 8:30 and aim to return to the cars by 2:30 pm at the latest. Reach out if you would like to coordinate a carpool from Twisp. Join us for one day, or make some new friends throughout the week. We’ll take all the help we can get this year.
We’ll prioritize work each day at the campground, split into groups, then carpool to selected trails.
Trails we would like to work on this week include: North Lake trail, Twisp Pass, West Fork of the Buttermilk, South Creek trail, Louis Lake trail, Williams Creek trail, and the Twisp River Trail.
